I’ve recently started a new job.
After almost 14 months of being casually employed, a 40 hours (excluding 1 hour lunch break) seems inhumane.
It’s also January.
I wake up at 6:30/7am and roll out of bed straight into my work clothes in sub zero temperatures. There’s no time for breakfast or even a coffee, and honestly no time to wake up. I spend the whole of my daylight hours indoors behind a computer screen. Surely I can’t be the only one thinking there’s something wrong with this. But the complacency of my colleagues and the attitude of inevitability of it all gets to me. Stacy Orico got it right:
“there’s gotta be more to life”
Now granted that because it’s winter and dark by 4pm all I want to do is curl up under my duvet. The thought of anything remotely life enriching seems like a chore.
